International wildlife and travel photographer, William Cowger of Acacia Photography in Troy, Michigan, is proud to announce a visual adventure of wildlife photography exhibits that will run from January 2nd - January 31st, 2009 at the Troy Public Library on Civic Center Drive in Troy.  The three distinctive and exciting exhibits being shown at the Troy Public Library are sure to whet  the appetite of the most savvy wildlife, travel and photography enthusiast.

Whether attending this exhibit due to interest in the world renowned photo safaris Mr. Cowger conducts each year in the Serengeti in Tanzania, or to experience the next best choice…to immerse yourself in your own world of exclusive photographs of the dynamic survival of the fittest, you are in for a rewarding experience. The beautiful animals that inhabit this healthiest eco-system in the world will be featured in three distinct exhibits for your viewing pleasure:

1. ‘Cats Being Cats’ (all new with examples attached) features the unusual yet familiar behaviors of the cats of the Serengeti (Servals, Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs). Witness the famous tree climbing lions of Tanzania, see the cats hunting, nurturing, posing, feeding, and resting above as well as on the endless plains.

2.‘ An African Adventure‘   features exciting photographs from actual safaris - so lifelike and unique you will get a sense of being in ‘the bush’ yourself;

3. ‘A Family Affair‘  captures elephants in black and white majestically nurturing their young in their natural habitat.

The Grand Opening of this memorable show takes place Sunday, January 4th, 2008from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Troy Public Library. During this events’ Grand Opening reception, a continuous running slideshow will be presented by Mr. Cowger. Mr. Cowger will also personally be on hand to answer any and all questions you may have regarding his thrilling African trips. All month long, donations and school supplies will be thankfully accepted at this functionwhich will be used to assist children in need in  the town of Usa River, Tanzania. Mr. Cowger, as well as many travelers who have been on his safaris, have raised enough money to support administered by the Troy Rotary Foundation. Mr. Cowger is a member of the Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of Michigan, as well as a long standing member of The Troy and Birmingham/Bloomfield Chambers of Commerce.

Thanks to all the hard work of the many people and children that have contributed funds and school supplies for the Usa River Priamry School, I had the opportunity to play Santa in July.  Yes… I handed out special awards (School bags, folders, balls and supplies) directly to the brightest, most improved and best athletes in each grade of the school. 

Upon my arrival on July 25th, 2008, a total of 1600 pounds of school supplies were un-boxed and distributed to the children in the Usa River area.  The looks in their eyes and the appreciation shown by the children and the adults made it all worth it.  You truly touched their hearts and made a difference for many.

I also got to view the completion of the Phase 1 of the construction project.  The new veranda (cement walkway and half wall) along with the extended roof was being used for children to study, for the children to eat their lunch and for the teachers to check papers.
